 If you read the title then you're about to discover a cheap SDHC reader for your Sony PMW EX1. It's hard to find a cheap alternative so it's nice to know one exists. I am running the latest firmware, 1.26, however I had it working with firmware 1.20 before upgrading. The SD card I'm using is the 32GB SDHC Class 10 card from Patriot and it's the LX series model. This reader plus that memory card cost about $50. A used 32GB SAS card would cost about $500. Go save yourself some money.
